美國加密貨幣交易所 Coinbase 執行長 Brian Armstrong 公開指責蘋果公司扼殺了加密技術的創新，封殺去中心化金融（DeFi），濫用平台優勢打壓競爭對手。
9 月 12 日，Brian Armstrong 發表一系列推特貼文聲稱，續去年底 Coinbase Wallet 的 Dapp 瀏覽器功能遭禁用後，蘋果 App Store 近來又再封鎖掉專為加密貨幣開發人員而設的部分功能。
他還稱，其他加密貨幣公司都怕遭到報復，所以才會選擇忍氣吞聲，但他卻堅決發表意見，因為 Coinbase 已經耗盡了所有能跟蘋果對話的常規渠道，並且已經達到了「死胡同」。
根據 Brian Armstrong 的說法，蘋果日前告知 Coinbase，禁止添加兩個特定功能：使用加密貨幣賺錢的功能以及訪問 DeFi 程式的功能。可想而知，第一條限制影響了交易所的 Coinbase Earn 產品，迫使 Coinbase 必須修改 App，這明顯不是一個對用戶友好的解決方式。

他還提到，這些限制明顯是針對加密貨幣用戶，並指出：
為何蘋果要阻止人們在經濟衰退期間賺錢？看來，只要涉及加密貨幣，他們都不太滿意。
Brian Armstrong 強調，對於 iOS 用戶而言，若 Coinbase 的 App 有缺少任何加密貨幣的功能，那不是因為開發人員「偷懶」，而是因為這些功能「已被 Apple 審查」。
此外，據報導，蘋果公司禁止 Coinbase 向用戶提供 Dapp 或 DeFi 應用，這兩個應用程序實際上都只是「網站」。蘋果顯然為此辯解說：
您的 [Coinbase] App 的非嵌入式軟體中有提供加密貨幣交易，這不適用於 App Store。
對此，Brian Armstrong 指出，無論通過任何智能手機上的 Web 瀏覽器，都可以訪問 DApps 和 DeFi 應用，蘋果的決定不過是出於「利益衝突」而已。
Brian Armstrong 聲稱，蘋果限制用戶只能使用 App Store 並封殺 DApps 的行為，就像 Windows 用戶當年被迫使用專有瀏覽器 Internet Explorer 一樣，跟微軟過去的反托拉斯問題具有相似之處。
